A Complete Insider To A Torque Transducer

A torque transducer, in simple terms, is an electrical accessory device, which converts rotating signals into electrical signals, to measure torque.

Before we move any further, it's fundamental to understand what actually torque is all about?

A torque force is twisting or turning that happens about an axis, and be applied both clockwise and anticlockwise. To understand it from layman's mind, take the most common application of torque in our every day, the steering mechanism. In order to make a turn, the driver of the car applies a force on the steering wheel, which in turn convert this force into a torque motion and transfer it to the steering column, and then the vehicle takes a turn.
Want to how the torque force was generated? Well, it's quite simple, first of your applied force on the wheel, that force and the distance of your hand from the well united to give birth to true, hence the principle of Steen in the automobile industry.

From the above, torque is nothing, but a mingling of force and length, (also known as the movement arm). To further explain, how the seesaw is harmonized in term of balance, even when the force applied on both side are diverse, its all because of the principle of torque.

Torque transducers are available in two categories, one is the static torque meters, they are only employed for measuring static torque, and the process is quite simple. The other one is the dynamic torque meters, used to read the value of dynamic torque on a rotating body, and it is never easy to measure. As, here, the transfer of some efforts is required, it can be electric, hydraulic or magnetic- from the shaft which is under observation to a static system.

From the above, you must have got some understanding of torque and how it is measured.
